CRAFT-VET Advances Training Curriculum Development and Prepares for Training of Trainers in Athens

The CRAFT-VET project continues to achieve important milestones in strengthening vocational education and training, with the development of bilingual training materials and the upcoming Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop scheduled for 2–6 November 2026 in Athens, Greece. As part of its ongoing implementation, the CRAFT-VET partnership has made significant progress in developing innovative training resources designed to connect traditional craftsmanship with digital technologies, entrepreneurship, and circular economy principles. These developments mark an important transition from curriculum development to practical capacity-building activities, supporting the project’s overall objective of modernising vocational education and preserving Albanian artisanal heritage. Training Curriculum and Teaching Materials Developed in English and Albanian One of the key achievements of the current implementation phase is the development of Deliverable D2.1 – Training Curriculum and Teaching Materials. The training curriculum has been developed through close cooperation among project partners, with valuable contributions from Mother Teresa University (MTU) and ReadLab. The educational materials are available in both English and Albanian, supporting their accessibility and practical application within Albanian vocational education and training institutions. The curriculum consists of one introductory Foundations section and three thematic chapters. Each chapter includes an introductory pre-assessment section and four learning units, providing a structured approach to competence development. The training content addresses key areas relevant to the modernisation of traditional crafts, including digital innovation, business development, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and circular economy practices. By combining traditional craft knowledge with emerging technologies and innovative learning approaches, these materials will support trainers in delivering more relevant and future-oriented vocational education. Training of Trainers Workshop Confirmed for 2–6 November 2026 in Athens The next major milestone is the Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop, scheduled to take place in Athens, Greece, from 2 to 6 November 2026. The activity will bring together 20 trainers from four Albanian partner organisations: the Professional School of Elbasan (PSE), A&I Services & Consulting (AISC), Mihal Shahini, and the Group for Integration and Democracy (GID). Each institution will be represented by five trainers, who will participate in an intensive four-day training programme from Monday to Thursday. The programme aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical competencies in the thematic areas covered by the newly developed curriculum while introducing effective methodologies for delivering training to other professionals. On Friday, 6 November, project partners will hold a coordination meeting to review implementation progress, discuss upcoming activities, and align priorities for the next phase of the project. Expanding Training Opportunities Across Albania An important component of the CRAFT-VET training strategy is its multiplier effect. Following the workshop in Athens, the 20 participating Albanian trainers will be responsible for organising additional training workshops in Albania, reaching 30 more trainers by December 2026. Through this two-stage approach, the project aims to build the capacity of at least 50 trainers, contributing to the wider dissemination of innovative teaching methodologies and professional competencies. To ensure quality and consistency across the training activities, the partnership has also developed common Training of Trainers guidelines, including pre- and post-assessment tools, participant evaluation questionnaires, reporting templates, and supporting documentation requirements. These instruments will facilitate the monitoring of learning outcomes and the preparation of Deliverable D2.2 – Training of Trainers Report, scheduled for completion in December 2026. Strengthening the Future of Vocational Education and Traditional Crafts Through the development of innovative training materials and structured capacity-building activities, CRAFT-VET continues to strengthen cooperation between vocational institutions, training providers, and international partners. The Professional School of Elbasan remains actively engaged in project implementation, contributing to the advancement of vocational training methodologies and the promotion of skills that respond to technological, environmental, and economic developments. The upcoming activities in Athens and Albania represent an important opportunity to transfer knowledge, strengthen institutional capacities, and establish a foundation for the wider application of the CRAFT-VET training curriculum. Developing the New CRAFTVET Training Curriculum: Bridging Traditional Crafts with Future Skills

The CRAFTVET project is moving into an important phase with the ongoing development of its new training curriculum. This curriculum is designed to create a practical bridge between traditional craftsmanship and the digital, entrepreneurial and sustainability skills required in today’s economy. Albania has a rich tradition of craftsmanship, built on knowledge and techniques passed from generation to generation. However, preserving this heritage also means ensuring that artisans and future craftspeople are equipped to respond to changing technologies, customer expectations and market opportunities. Through CRAFTVET, traditional skills are not seen as something belonging only to the past, but as a strong foundation for innovation and future economic opportunities. Combining Craftsmanship with Digital Innovation A central component of the new curriculum is the integration of digital technologies into traditional craft practices. Learners will explore areas such as digital drawing and 3D modelling, helping them understand how modern design tools can support product development, prototyping and customisation. The curriculum will also introduce AI-assisted creativity, providing participants with opportunities to explore how artificial intelligence can support the creative process, generate ideas and complement traditional design methods. Another innovative area is blockchain-based certification. This will help learners understand how emerging technologies can potentially support product authenticity, traceability and the documentation of handmade products and their origins. Supporting Entrepreneurship and Market Access Creating high-quality craft products is only one part of building a sustainable business. Artisans also need the knowledge and confidence to present, promote and sell their products effectively. For this reason, the CRAFTVET curriculum will address e-commerce, digital marketing and access to global platforms, helping participants better understand how digital channels can connect local craftsmanship with customers beyond traditional markets. Attention will also be given to international trade and relevant EU regulations, strengthening participants’ understanding of the wider business environment and the opportunities and requirements associated with reaching European and international markets. Sustainability and the Circular Economy Sustainability is another key pillar of the curriculum. Participants will explore sustainable craft techniques, responsible use of materials, waste reduction, reuse and circular economy principles. These competencies can help artisans reduce their environmental footprint while also responding to growing consumer interest in sustainable, locally produced and responsibly made products. Building Skills for the Future The development of the CRAFTVET training curriculum represents an important step towards ensuring that Albania’s rich craft traditions are not only preserved, but also equipped to evolve, compete and thrive in a digital and sustainable future. By bringing together craftsmanship, technology, entrepreneurship and sustainability, CRAFTVET aims to create new learning opportunities for artisans and learners while contributing to the long-term resilience and visibility of Albania’s craft sector. A new generation of craft skills is taking shape — where tradition meets technology, creativity meets entrepreneurship, and cultural heritage becomes a driver for future opportunities. Designing Skills for the Future: Progress on the CRAFT-VET Training Curriculum

During July and August, the CRAFT-VET partnership worked on the development of the project’s training curriculum, an essential component of its mission to connect traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, sustainable production and new market opportunities. The curriculum is being designed to respond to the needs of artisans, vocational education and training students, trainers and craft businesses. Building on the project’s needs assessment process, the partners focused on creating a practical learning framework that can help participants strengthen their existing competencies while acquiring new skills that are increasingly important in today’s economy. The CRAFT-VET Training Curriculum is intended to be structured around three interconnected learning areas. Digital Skills for Crafts The first area focuses on the use of digital technologies to modernise craft design and production. Participants will be introduced to 3D modelling, AI-assisted design and other digital tools that can support the development of new products, improve production efficiency and reduce unnecessary material use. The curriculum will also explore blockchain-based certification as an innovative method for confirming the authenticity and origin of artisanal products. Such solutions can help protect traditional crafts from imitation while increasing trust among customers and international buyers. Business Development and Market Access Producing a high-quality product is only one part of building a successful craft business. Artisans also need the skills to promote their work, reach customers and compete in markets beyond their immediate communities. For this reason, the curriculum is intended to cover branding, digital marketing, product presentation, customer communication and e-commerce. Participants will learn how online marketplaces such as Etsy and Amazon Handmade operate and how digital channels can be used to reach wider audiences. The training will also introduce relevant aspects of European Union market requirements, including product standards, certification, pricing, sales and export considerations. These competencies will support artisans in presenting their products professionally and exploring opportunities in European and international markets. Sustainability and the Circular Economy The third learning area focuses on environmentally responsible craft production. Participants will explore practical ways to reduce waste, reuse materials and integrate circular economy principles into their production processes. The curriculum will promote the use of upcycled and eco-friendly materials, resource-efficient working methods and the transformation of production leftovers into new products. These approaches can reduce environmental impact while also lowering costs and creating opportunities for innovation. By combining digital skills, business development and sustainability, the CRAFT-VET curriculum aims to offer more than conventional craft training. It will provide participants with an integrated set of competencies that can help them preserve traditional knowledge while adapting to technological, environmental and market changes. The work undertaken during July and August represents an important step towards the preparation of practical and accessible training materials in English and Albanian. Once developed, these resources will support future training activities for VET trainers, students and artisans, as well as practical learning within the planned Smart Craft Labs. Through this curriculum, CRAFT-VET is building a bridge between cultural heritage and the skills required for a competitive, innovative and sustainable craft sector. Building the Foundation for CRAFT-VET Communication and Dissemination

Effective communication is one of the key pillars of every successful Erasmus+ project. During this reporting period, the CRAFT-VET consortium focused on developing and refining the project’s Dissemination Strategy (Deliverable D4.1), establishing a common framework that will guide how project activities, results, and achievements are communicated throughout the project’s lifetime. The Dissemination Strategy represents much more than a communication plan. It defines how the consortium will ensure that the knowledge, tools, methodologies, and innovative practices developed within CRAFT-VET reach the people who can benefit from them the most. As a project dedicated to revitalizing Albanian artisanal heritage through smart manufacturing and circular economy skills, effective dissemination is essential for creating awareness, encouraging participation, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of project outcomes. Over the past month, partners worked collaboratively to review, improve, and consolidate the strategy document. Through regular online meetings and joint consultations, each partner contributed institutional perspectives, communication experience, and recommendations to ensure that the strategy reflects the diversity of the consortium while maintaining a unified project identity. This collaborative approach guarantees that dissemination activities will be implemented consistently across all participating countries and institutions. The strategy identifies the project’s primary target groups, including vocational education and training (VET) students, teachers, artisans, craft businesses, policy makers, local authorities, business support organizations, and the wider public. It also establishes tailored communication approaches for each audience, ensuring that project messages remain relevant, accessible, and impactful. A significant part of the work was dedicated to defining the communication tools and channels that will support project visibility. These include the official CRAFT-VET website, social media platforms, newsletters, promotional materials, workshops, conferences, study visits, policy events, and the Erasmus+ Project Results Platform. Together, these channels will ensure continuous dissemination throughout the project lifecycle rather than limiting communication to major milestones or final results. The consortium also agreed on common visual identity guidelines, key communication messages, and Erasmus+ visibility requirements. Standardized templates, promotional materials, and branding elements will help partners present CRAFT-VET with a consistent and professional image across all communication activities. This unified identity strengthens project recognition while clearly acknowledging the support of the European Union. At the same time, the project website continues to serve as the central communication hub for all stakeholders. Visitors can already explore the project’s objectives, partnership, latest news, and upcoming activities, while future updates will provide access to training materials, project results, and other resources developed during implementation. The completion of the Dissemination Strategy marks an important milestone for CRAFT-VET. With a shared communication framework now in place, the partnership is well positioned to maximize the visibility, impact, and sustainability of the project while promoting the modernization of vocational education, preserving Albania’s rich artisanal heritage, and fostering innovation through digital and circular economy approaches.
